Nah, I didn’t think so. Would you like to try my hellish cupcakes?
Or my bloody (great) Paella:
Inspired by a couple of food blogs I decided to try my hand at Halloween themed meals. It was a Nigella nightmare to make since I have zero culinary skills but the food was a ghoulish success: my boyfriend and his family devoured the paella and the cupcakes are all gone!
devoured.
In 10 mins we’re starting our Halloween Twin Peaks marathon, to sustain us we have a bucket of treats to nosh on and by morning we’ll know who killed Laura Palmer.
Whatever I choose I just have to make sure I upstage the bride – just kidding I could never wear anything that tacky!
Actually I like to keep thinks pretty simple and I tend to just accessorise, accessorise, accessorise with quirky and bizarre things. When I saw this picture of Cory Kennedy and Peaches Geldof – Nylon’s favourite It Girls - it was the mathematical style equation I always follow:
Cory Kennedy - little or no make up with unbrushed grungy hair
+
Peaches Geldof– cute/grungy/gothic /rock’n’roll/vintage/60s dresses with black opaque tights and cool accessories
=
My perfect look!
Easy huh? Before I go to Cory K my hair, I'll leave you with a K.I.S.S - Keep It Simple Stupid!
I’ve decided to go to bed early. Why? I have numerous items to list on eBay, parcels to post and Gossip Girl season 3 is lame.
My bed is calling - my boyfriend will read me excerpts of James Joyce’s Ulysses while I pretend its Nancy Drew’s adventures. While I sleep I’ll ponder the things I don’t have but need in life such as this Garfield phone:
Cory Kennedy I hate you.

Please check out my ebay page...I'll be listing new items tomorrow/today:
No, I didn’t work a 12 hour-day nor did I do any physical exercise to exhaust myself. Ha as if!
In fact I slept 12 hours today and did a total of 3 activities:
·I donated blood
·I watched an episode of Gossip Girl
·I sorted out the pile of vintage earrings I bought yesterday on impulse
This has been an extremely tiring day and I loved it.
I love the days when I donate blood; I go about my day at tortoise pace and live the slacker lifestyle for a day - yeah I’m a big fan of Richard Linklater films! Plus you’re encouraged to EAT and DRINK and to NOT exert yourself. I always feel fatigued after giving blood and I have the best 12 hours of sleep. I’m only just waking up now to watch bad midnight TV. Yes, there are shows a lot worse than Gossip Girl.
It’s a wonderful experience and The Blood Bank always needs new donors. Please check out their website for details:
I like a bit of clutter, it gives a nice shabby, lived-in, genius-at-work feel however I dislike not being able to find anything.
This is a long time coming but Everything Must Go!
I started to clean up my room 3 years but then decided that moving to Glebe with housemates would be a better option. Then I had a space problem in Glebe – it could not contain my movie collection! To solve the problem I started to deliberately leave movies at my boyfriend’s house, then movies turned into cds, my shoe collection and book collection. All that and I still forgot my toothbrush!
I know, I know I could just stop buying things but I can resist everything except a sale!
Anyway I’m trying this whole clutter-free thing and I’m getting rid of everything thats inessential to me; you’ll find my things cluttering eBay’s online auctions. Visit:
Then maybe I’ll find my genius or Bikini Kill cd when the mess has cleared.
Things I have on auction:
The Bell Jar Clutch
My friend Michaela is a big reader, she’ll read anything except Catcher in the Rye again. She also lent me her copy of Sylvia...the movie about Sylvia Plath. I really hated the movie probably because I really really hate Gwyneth Paltrow. She is so fucking annoying.
I read The Bell Jar when I was a teenager holidaying in NYC and I was so depressed. I was on holidays with my family. Reading the Bell Jar at the time and at that age I felt like my world was getting bigger and smaller at the same time but now rereading The Bell Jar – it leaves me kind of deflated.
When I saw this Bell Jar clutch by Black Friday, it renewed my interest again. Who knew suicide could be so chic?* It’s even big enough to carry my copy of The Bell Jar!
*Oops I think I may have said something offensive but my blog has a readership of zero so zero complaints.

Aqua Zimmermann Tassel Bag
Apparently tassels are in and I know this because Shop Til You Drop magazine told me so in their October issue. This is a magazine you really buy for the ads and not the articles. Shit! It’s probably smarter to read the contents of your toilet paper than how awesome Harem pants are. From behind it looks like you’ve dropped a heavy load in your pants...that can’t feel right.
Anyway not that I take to trends but all this Shop Til You Drop information must have made its way into my brain subconsciously when I bought this bag from Zimmermann. I liked it but like a lot of my stuff I never got around to using it.

Vintage Roma Coin Purse
Another trend people are warming to is the purse/bag as a necklace as seen in the Sportsgirl catalogue below. I can see the efficiency as it has 2 functions; it's two accessories for the price of one!
I don’t know why I have this but I found it behind the heater and I think it’s probably a kid’s bag which I did not realise it at the time when I bought it. That aside, not only is it a purse for girls, you can use it as a coin purse or necklace. It’s multi-purpose and made in Italy. Score!
As you’ll find in future entries eventually, I detest trends and most of the so-called fashionable and stylish people are boring and they’re probably assholes. I don’t like overtly stylish people or total try hards; I like ideas – creative, ridiculous and dangerous, a bold element they work into their outfit and a fearless approach to presentation.
And fortunately I have never succumbed to the Harem pants trend, never ever. I respect Aladdin too much.
The items listed are on auction on ebay, auction ends in a week. Visit:
I’ve been an avid collector of clip-on earrings and I’ve build up quite a collection over the years however I’m running out of space to house my clip-on earring collection. With the space problem in Sydney and my boyfriends’ vast and unnecessary guitar pedal collection (shoegazers!) my clip-on earrings are being forced out. As a fan of The Movie Show and At The Movies, I would like to donate half my collection to you. I know you would appreciate them and give them a good home. Wear them well!
Yours affably,
Coco

This was the short letter I was going to send out with my earrings however I realised that Margaret Pomeranz is a woman of taste and she would probably dislike some of the cheap and tawdry clip-ons I have in my collection. Never to shy away from cheap glamour; I’ll see if Boy George has room in his cell...oops I mean home!
Or alternatively you can head over to ebay as I have a few of them on auction.
I have been characterised a great many things but my marvellous self was not included in the October It Girl issue of Nylon magazine.
Sigh. Maybe next year.
The Coco in question is Coco Sumner; Sting’s daughter.
Being the child of someone famous helps when acquiring the It Girl status, as does buckets of indie like style, photogenic cool friends and model thin looks.
After reading Coco Sumner’s little Q&A in Nylon I discovered we have a few things in common:
First of all we’re both fashion magazine darlings; she is praised and photographed in them and I like to read them.
We both have fathers with whiny annoying voices.
She loves Ian Dury and I loathe Jamie Dury.
We both take ages to get ready in the morning – she has dyspraxia and I suffer from severe indecisiveness.
Our rooms are both messy with boxes and guitars lying about, she lives above a bar and I literally have one outside my bedroom door. This is comforting when I come back from my AA meetings.
She classifies her occupation as a musician and I'm going out with a musician who occupies me.
Coco Sumner seems cool, the kind of girl you can have a couple of pints with at the pub but her music taste downright sucks!
I lost interest when Phil Collins was mentioned.
She has an album out soon called The Constant; her band is I Blame Coco.
You can check out Coco Sumner's myspace and website:
Yes, I have items on ebay for auction - vintage stuff, new stuff, books, kitschy items, cool accessories, knick knacks, an eclectic mix of things that have caught my eye and like somewhat.
